"Hello, I am Christiaan Duut from the Netherlands. In 2006 i started an Esterel Foldingcaravanclub in the Netherlands. If you need info about your Model, I need to know wich Model you own. I do have some printed material about the Esterel Folding caravan wich I could send to you in digital format. You can contact me by e-mail. c.duut@home.nl" I have recently bought a 1981 CC34 folder in excellent condition for age, a few odd jobs but otherwise very sound and mostly original. If you have available any info and/or handbook I would find this very useful. I note from reading adverts for Esterel Caravans for sale that the handbrake failure appears to be a frequent difficulty. Have just successfully repaired mine. Many Thanks, UK Citizen living in northern France.

i have just bought a record matic off ebay it has been put up and checked and is all ok, in the instructions it says the nose weight should be 40kg, i have loaded all the heavy stuff at the back of the trailer (awning and poles in the wardrobe) cooker and pans etc behind wheels and the nose weight is 55kg. it has a front box with gas bottle and fridge and when i will be going away in it the fridge will be full of food/beer so the nose weight will only get heivier anyone else had this problem. ps i will be towing it with an mx5 so to save my rear suspension i will need to get the nose weight down

Hi. I too have just been on first run with newly aquired RecordMatic. Have just been out to measure weight on ball hitch at 44Kg. This is withan empty three way fridge filling half the front box and sundry jack, wood pads, winding handle and a little gas bottle that weighs 5Kg in the other half (without bottle the hitch weight was 42 Kg) The kitchen unit (13Kg) is out of the van at moment but should make negligable difference as it sits between the wheels. I have an awning with steel poles in the rear seat stowage, (1 seat cushon in worktop stowage therefore it is above wardrobe in folded up mode). 2 pots in front seat stowage and plates/mugs/glases for 4 in small cupboard and long cupboard. How did you get the cooker behind the wheels??? it stows on the floor under the table BETWEEN the wheels. I had not thought of putting the awning in the wardrobe where it will of course make the front lighter than with it in the seat stowage. Are you measuring the weight at the ball hitch or by putting the jockey wheel on scales?? If wheel on scales then the weight shown will be higher than at the ball hitch. (mine showed 40Kg on ball hitch and 45Kg at jockey wheel (that was with the 5Kg bottle out of the box in both cases). You must have a very heavy fridge and large gas bottle. I towed with a 4 seat convertable Reliant Scimitar and all luggage was in boot/on folded rear seats and my back end was quite well down....time perhaps to fit uprated springs! By my calculation for every extra 2 Kg on the hitch you would have an extra 5Kg in the box so you would appear to have 50Kg extra to me in the box or an even bigger weight further back in the front underseat stowage! Dennis

I'm sorry that you were miffed at not being able to join us. The thing is, we are a club for Rapido owners, whether folders, pop-tops or motorhomes and we have a waiting list as it is! And the Original Rapido Caravan Club won't even have Rapidos other than folders so most of us couldn't join! Perhaps you could start a Trigano Club?

Am new owner. When folding up the Record matic I can see the long book cupboard with the light goes in the forward space under the table and the kitchen unit then fits between the wheel arches but where does the other little cupboard from above the work surface fit? I have some printed instruction which cover most of the erection and folding but it seems to ignore this part of the RecorMatic. Also the clips that clip onto the hinge of the folded down roof are string and little hooks so where did they originally attach.....there are holes in the vertical little bits of wood just inside the opening on either side of the van and I assume they went through there. I have a little staple inside each of the spaces that I assume they were fixed to but the staples are about 6 inches away from the holes and no way is the string long enough to reach. I would just like to know the original way they were attached. Mine were just lying free in a cupboard.

I would just like to point out that the Original Rapido Folding Caravan Club is NOT associated with this wiki which is operated by the Rapido Caravan Club. Our FRIENDLY club includes folders, pop-tops, half-folders and motorhomes.

I have a Rapido Orline caravan and need to replace a damaged wheel. The wheel I require is a 4.5J X 13, 4 hole on 130 mm PCD for M12 bolts, 85 mm centre hole and ZERO offset. Rapido have used an unusual size here. Anyone got any suggestions as to where I might get one?

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately neither Autow or Campers & Leisure can help. The problem seems to be the zero offset. 20 mm seems to be the minimum. I suspect I may have to use the 20mm offset wheel. There looks to be enough clearance around the wheel arch and suspension.
