Can anyone please share their experience of doing business with Caravanes Rapido of Wokingham? I am considering spending a lot of money with them for a new motorhome.

andymacdonald30 Are you off to France in 2008 0 Nov 24 2007, 11:12 AM EST by andymacdonald30

I have found some web sites that you can use to find your campsite in Europe
Could be quite useful if you are planning to go to a particular region and are not sure of the local campsites.

http://www.campingo.com/campsite.html

http://www.eurocampings.co.uk/en/europe/

http://www.campingfrance.com/index.jsp?lg=uk

http://www.campingcheque.co.uk/en/

And lastly a site to plan your route and stop over points

Hope these are of some use to someone

andymacdonald30 Towing The law 1 Nov 12 2007, 5:25 AM EST by Anonymous
Thread started: Oct 14 2007, 3:23 PM EDT  Watch
I have been looking into getting an A frame towing unit for pulling a small car around behind me
This has opened up a massive can of worms as to weather they are legal or not
The dept of transport say that the frames are for pulling a car out of a dangerous position if it has broken down, and it is only for getting it to a garage or home.
This does not include the towing of a second vehicle behind a camper when going on your holidays
This is in part due to the weight of the towed vehicle and the brakes not being applied on the towed vehicle whilst braking
Only a trailer of UP TO 750 KG can be used without brakes.
This then made me look at the possibility of a trailer to pull a second car around on.
But there is another problem there. If the towing vehicle is a commercial type vehicle you can tow up to the max train weight of the vehicle. But if your towing vehicle is not in the commercial vehicle type then you can only tow a trailer with a mass of only 85% of the dry curbside weight of your vehicle
This is only a very small part of the rulebook, and is almost impossible to understand
So my only advice is.
Go to the manufacture of your vehicle, and find out exactly what you are allowed to tow with your vehicle and get it in writing.

Regards whilst being confused
If any one can enlighten us further please post your findings

This is a link to a web site selling a book called
Wild camping in Great Britain
It also has some addresses that are supposed to be available for motor homers and caravans to camp free of charge, or for just a few pounds

andymacdonald30 New Calor Gas Bottles 0 Oct 27 2007, 5:40 PM EDT by andymacdonald30
Thread started: Oct 27 2007, 5:40 PM EDT  Watch
Calor are introducing new lighter Gas bottles in response to the BP lites.
See here
http://www.calorlite.co.uk/further-information.htm
Apparently Calor Gas are doing a straight swap with no charge! There is a nice little gauge fitted to the bottle to let you know how much gas is in the bottle, which is great news.
